BETA now open!

Big news today folks, first off the card game is now officially called Kongai. I personally was always a fan of Kongai, and liked it more then the other options suggested.

Second and more importantly, the BETA sign ups have started! If you click on the card tab located here, and then look under help us test, you will have the option of signing up for the BETA. I can't wait.

I personally preferred "Konquer" for the name of the card game, but Kongai has a nice, Mortal Kombat-style ring to it. It sounds pretty cool, but looks a bit silly. Lucky for Kongregate they used a font that looks good with uppercase letters.

Overall, I think it turned out well... that is, except for that "play now" button that they seem to have forgot to put on the card game screen. ;)

PS.
I wonder if the ever-illusive points system will get a use when the card game releases. *rubs chin with a raised eyebrow* For the life of me, I sure hope they don’t make you earn points to unlock cards. I don’t think I’ll be able to endure getting badges after I’ve played the card game. Other games just really can’t compare!

Hopefully they’ll have some sort of repeatable badge system for the card game that awards you with stuff you can unlock cards with the more you win. That mechanic doesn’t really serve new players, though, and only widens the divide between new players and people good at the game, so hmmm.

PPS.
Keep up the great work with this blog, Repent. This blog is my primary hub of info when it comes to the card game, and I think it’s well done (simple, but has everything you need in a nice, easy-to-use package). It would be nice if it was updated a little faster sometimes, but apart from that, I can’t complain. I see it more as a resource then a news site anyway.

As far as I am aware, the points system won't have any interaction with the card game. If they do end up implementing points with the card game, then that will be a future occurrence that, as of right know, we are unaware of.

I also hope not, as I find the large majority of the flash games to be not worth the time investment of a badge.

It will be interesting to see if any other mechanics besides the weekly challenges are implemented to gain cards, so it will be worth watching to see what the Kong team decides on.

Lastly, thanks for praise! Nothing makes me happier then to see that people are enjoying the info I put out. I plan to have lots more once the BETA games start up.
