7 Great Idle Games

Who doesn't love an entertaining way to do nothing? I know I sure do. One of the basically Kongregate-exclusive game categories is Idle games. Since you need to have a game open to use the chat, these games were originally created as an entertaining way to chat with your friends and still have a game open. A game, that is, that you play by doing nothing.

It doesn't get much more classic that this. Kongregate Chat is the pioneer game that set the foundation for all idle games to come in the future. This game features falling stars that you can dodge, increasing your score. If you can dodge 100 of these and press submit you'll also earn yourself a nice 5 points along with an easy badge.

Another classic idle game released at the end of 2007. This game will entertain you with chat dialogue as it automatically completes a new quest every 10 seconds or so. The game is also a great size to show a large amount of the chat for those active chat rooms you might be in.

This retro idle game sequel is one of the most well put-together out there. Select your character class and go on an adventure through various biomes as you level up and gain exp and stats. You also gain gold but there isn't really a use for it in the game.

A simpler idle game ceases to exist. Just chatting is just a massive grey box. Even so, the game has racked up nearly 2,500,000 plays and has a 4.1 rating.

If you're looking for a little more action in your idle games than this is the one for you. Upgrade your adventurer as he automatically defeats foes in his journey. You earn gold passively which you can use for all sorts of things, including hot sauce.

Jam out to some funky dance music! You passively gain money which you can use to purchase new dance moves or new sound tracks. This is my personal go-to idle game and I honestly still can't explain why. Something about watching this little stick-figure dance is just a great addition to my day.

The most notorious of all idle games- with nearly 10,000,000 plays and a rating of 4.2 this game speaks for itself. This game has more features and things to do than I can list, and has a neat little badge for purchasing the Battle Arena from the shop.
